Script preparations

Introduction

We are a small charity based in Tavistock run by volunteers, providing visually impaired people with the ability to keep abreast of the regional newspaper stories published each week.

Each week 150+ listeners receive an audio recording of local news taken from the Plymouth Herald, The Tavistock, Okehampton and East Cornwall Times, and the Western Morning News. Recordings are made on a USB memory stick and are sent by post in a yellow plastic envelope, arriving each Saturday.

Recording session

The weekly Talking Newspaper is organised and produced entirely by volunteers working from a studio in Tavistock. Each phase of production and distribution is carried out by a separate team of people, working on a rota.

We are always pleased to welcome new volunteers to help with the production of the Plymouth & West Devon Talking Newspaper. Please phone the Studio and leave a message on the answer phone and we will call you back, or, alternatively contact us using the e-mail link on this website.
